I've never in my life, been convinced of the existence of a supernatural power called God. I've been searching for evidences for his existence ever since I started to use my intelligence. I'm surprised to see that even intelligent and very educated people appreciate this imaginary existence without any satisfactory evidence, even when they use high levels of intelligence to solve very complicated problems involved in their profession, be them doctors or engineers. What happens here is a deliberate 'suppression of intelligence' when it comes to the 'heavenly' matters. But why? Why are people hiding away from the truth? Is it because of fear? or reluctance? Or just lazy??
There were times, we call the dark ages, when man used to believe that the earth was the centre of the universe and the sun revolved around it. Later when Galileo found out that it was not, the people and the church never accepted. He was accused of misleading people and was even threatened to be killed if he continued to do teach his new discovery. But he stood against all odds to fight for the truth. And now we know that the earth is just one among the 9(now 8) planets that revolve around the earth, and the solar system is just a dot in the universe.... and all that. These are advances in modern science which we have accepted, because they are proven with scientific evidence.
The existence of God is just a similar myth which originated in the past. There is not single scientific evidence which points to the existence such a supernatural power. But in the ‘God’ matters, man is not ready to accept the reality, even when he uses drugs to kill the bacteria in his own body, whose existence was proven by science and not told by God.
hmmm.
ReplyDeleteEVERY THING IS ALRIGHT, BUT I GENUINELY WISH, IF THERE WERE A SUPER POWER, HOW EASY THE LIFE WOULD HAVE BECOME. UTOPIAN CONCEPT BUT...!

ReplyDeleteA worship of an atheist
ReplyDeleteI'm damn sure that there isn't any super power up above the planet to control us. But i feel a religion is more than a matter of sacred or sin things, it's life style. Some used to take bath in river, some in sea, aome other in bathroom, as simple as that. As said in earlier comment, i wish if there were a super power, I feel comfortable when i close my eyes for a second to pray before i drive in my vehicle for a journey. It's not bribing the GOD to make no harm for me. It's just convince our mind that you are going to be ok....! It's mere personal matter. not to make a public event.
when u completely realise there is nobody to hear you, what is the point in praying??? better drive carefully and save yourself. :D
ReplyDeleteAnd also you might want to note that almost everyone who met with accidents were theists!!!
My point is that, In a secular country like india, if we have to intervene in any social reforms, we need to be having a secular mind setup. If you talk as an atheist, it will fall on deaf ears. People will be viewing it in a prejudiced manner. An atheist-ism will gradually become another religion who is not worshiping anybody, criticize everybody. Our country can't afford them also. So i believe in a view that, let everybody live in their way without harming others feelings.
ReplyDeletehi all.nice discussion here. wonderful effort Praphul and thanks for the place to scribble our thoughts. Let me share my views friends.
ReplyDeletelife is like swimming in an ocean or walking in a desert with no maps. dont know 'where' to go, dont know 'why' to move at all..(i really mean it guys..ha..ha..every pg aspirant(?) at least might understand this) i think 'why' is more important.. the reason to live..In the biological way of thinking, i want to transfer my genes to the next generation; thats instinct. Beyond that what is the meaning of my life? Everyone might have asked this at some point of their lives. Does it all end with my death? This is too harsh a reality.. too unattractive a proposal for greedy man to accept. We always want more. So everyone want a reason to live in the 'presumed' good man way. So if someone says 'thats why' you should live and 'this is where' you should tread, obviously i will be attracted to him unless someone else says something more obvious. Thats probably one reason why religions exist even in this age of science, and why even scientific people believe in god.
regards jim.
have you ever been superstitious about something praphul..? plz be honest....
ReplyDeleteYa. I used to believe in superstition till i was about 12 yrs old - I used to believe there was a God! and I gradually realised there isn't. At first i was afraid to share this idea with anyone else. But when i found more people who believed the same, i was confident to speak out.i had company!
ReplyDeleteI know there are more people out there who have begun to doubt the existence of a supernatural GOd. I want to let them know that they have company, and that the numbers of such people are exponentially rising in the educated and elite group of people. God is dead! You just need to accept it!
@ chottu, u r thinking good! I too had serious concerns regarding Atheism becoming just another religion. that was almost two years back. I couldn't find anything wrong in religion too, even though i believed it was just a superstition. I kept my atheism to myself. i told about my atheism only when asked of. I was not very keen on 'preaching' my atheism! i posted my concerns on an atheist forum. i got mixed reactions. BUt NOw things have changed. I have a totally different view.
ReplyDeleteI actually began to type you a reply and found that it was too long. and know that more people might have similar concerns. So I'll answer to this as a seperate post at a different time.
no dear, i was asking whether u have any superstitious beliefs despite maintaining your atheistic views.. I mean a superstitious atheist..?
ReplyDeleteNO. what u have in mind?
